SlideFlickr, embed Flickr Slideshows in less than 10”!

slideflickr-beta

At the beginning of May, Flickr launched their new flash slideshow viewer with a new interface and larger picture sizes, allowing people to view their slideshows in a whole new way comparing to the previous tool that had some limitations.

Couple of weeks after this announcement, I thought that it would be cool if anyone could have the opportunity to create a custom slideshow with the option to embed it in their own blog-site-myspace page. That’s how Slideflickr was originally created. I started playing with Flickr API for the database queries and the whole idea seemed pretty easy and sexy. After some tests I released the aplha version of Slideflickr which was generating iframe code for anyone interested. Although this version generated a lot of problems with Internet Explorer & Opera users, Slideflickr was accepted by a lot of people so I had to find a work around, asking and reading for a week or so.

I am happy to announce the beta version of Slideflickr, which is working perfectly in every browser, generating <embed> code for every site!

Slideflickr gives you the opportunity to gather all or some selected photos from flickr (via specific url / set selection and tag support) and then customize the Flickr slideshow viewer to your needs by altering it’s dimensions or the messages shown.

The whole procedure is rather easy and it could take you less than 10 seconds, feel free to comment for requests, bugs or anything else you want to concerning Slideflickr here!

Below you can see some test posts with embedable Slideflickr in Blogger, Pblogs, Myspace. Wordpress.com for security reasons doesn’t allow <embed> tags but I hope I will find some solution there!

Really nice and fast way to get a flickr slideshow. Try cleaning up the code a bit though to make it XHTML valid (: Also why not adding ‘tags’ to the list of options? flickr’s API is quite flexible!

Thanks for the comment Marios!
SlideFlickr’s code is XHTML valid and I will probably validate the code of the embeddable player as well.
As for the tags, there are actually implemented inside “Advanced Options” choice!
